4th Annual Fall Community Dialogues - 2007

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) held its fourth annual Community Dialogues in October and November, 2007. These dialogues provided an opportunity for First Nations, stakeholders and the public to come together, obtain information and give input to DFO on current issues.

The Dialogues complemented existing advisory processes by providing opportunities for First Nations and cross-sectoral groups to discuss issues relevant to their communities, and to do so closer to where people live.

In 2007, discussion topics included:

• Pacific Integrated Commercial Fisheries Initiative (PICFI)
• Pacific Salmon Treaty (PST) [PDF]
• Reform of the Dungeness Crab Fishery
• Species at Risk - Management Plan for Olympia Oysters

Topics are tailored to local communities' interests and needs.
