Umatilla Dace Consultations

Consultation Summary

In April 2010, the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) assessed Umatilla Dace as Threatened. This species is being considered for listing as Threatened under the Species at Risk Act (SARA).

Regional consultations were conducted to gather public feedback on this potential listing under SARA. Regional Consultations were held online from March 6th, 2012 to April 30th, 2012. Online comment forms were available to the public to submit comments. Letters were emailed out to the Province of British Columbia, environmental interest groups, and stakeholder groups in the species’ range. Letters were also mailed, emailed, and faxed out to First Nations groups with an opportunity for a bilateral meeting. A total of 9 comments were received; one comment in favour of listing as Threatened, four against listing as Threatened, and three neutral or undecided comments.
