Groundfish Trawl - Pacific Region

Photo: A trawlerThe groundfish trawl fishery uses an Individual Vessel Quota system. As a result it is the most complex Individual Quota fishery in British Columbia with fully transferable quotas set out for 25 different species in 55 different species area groups. Groundfish trawl is the largest fishery on the West Coast of Canada, with annual landings of approximately 140,000 tonnes worth an estimated value of $65 million.
