Prawn and Shrimp Closures

Prawn and Shrimp: Effective April 01, 2012: all closures (including "pulse fishing" closures) will be revoked, and recreational fishery for prawns and shrimp by trap, ring net, or spear while diving will reopen. Note: one week closure May 03 - May 09, 2012 for:

• Stuart Channel (Subareas 17-5, 17-6, and 17-9) Map ;
• Saanich Inlet (Subarea 19-7 to 19-12 inclusive) Map; and
• Alberni Inlet (Subareas 23-1 to 23-3 inclusive)
Map.

Areas 13, 15, 16, 17, 23, 25: Jan. 1 - March 31, 2012: the harvest of prawns and shrimp by trap, ring net, or spear while diving will be closed in the following Subareas:

1. Subareas 13-12, 13-16, 13-17 (Quadra Island area) Map;
2. Subareas 15-2 and 15-3 (Lund area) Map;
3. Subareas 16-1, 16-2, 16-10, 16-11, and 16-16 to 16-18 inclusive (Malaspina Strait/lower Jervis Inlet) Map;
4. Subareas 16-7 and 16-8 (Salmon and Narrows Inlets) Map;
5. Subareas 17-13 and 17-15 (Nanaimo) Map;
6. Subareas 23-1 (portion Alberni Inlet) Map; and
7. Subareas 25-1, 25-8, 25-16 (Tahsis and Muchalat Inlets) Map
