Satellite Images 'Quick Look' Archive

Use this form to search the IOS/Ocean Sciences Data Inventory for Satellite images (AVHRR and SeaWiFS) in your study area. This application will search our on-line INVENTORY of images and return URLs for 'QUICK LOOK' images, but WILL NOT return the actual data.
AVHRR
Before Nov 2002
There are 3 products for each scene (not calibrated):
1. Near Infrared-useful for detecting cloud cover (visi)
2. Suspended Sediments (susp)
3. Sea surface Temperature (ther)

Oct 2002 and after
There are 4 products for each scene:
1. Reflectivity-band 670-900 nm in % reflectance (albedo 2)
2. Albedo 1 - Albedo 2
3. Sea surface temperature-cloud masked (SST masked)
4.Sea surface temperature-raw (SST raw)
 SeaWiFS
There are 5 products for each scene:
1. Water leaving radiance at 443 nm (L443)
2. Water leaving radiance at 490 nm (L490)
3. Water leaving radiance at 555 nm (L555)
4. Chlorophyll A derived product (chlo)
5. Diagnostic Flags (flag)

Internal users may use this application to view AVHRR and SeaWiFS  'quick look' images that are accessible by the DFO local and wide area networks to authorized users.
External users are welcome to search the inventory. If you find images that are of interest , have questions about the data or encounter problems with the application please contact Jim Gower at  IOS.
STEP 1: SELECT the AREA of Interest:
The satellite images have been rectified and re-sampled to a set of standard areas or regions. Select the area(s) of interest from this list box.

STEP 2: SELECT the SATELLITE(S) of Interest:
Select one or more satellites of interest.  Note that not all satellites may have been operational during the date range you select next.

STEP 3: ENTER the DATE RANGE for the data:
