New vessel identification requirements
All vessel owners must ensure that the Vessel Registration Number (VRN) assigned to their vessel is painted or fixed securely onto their vessel. The VRN must be placed on the vessel where it is clearly visible. It must also be displayed in solid block numerals of a certain size (see chart below) in white on a black background or vice versa.
A = minimum height of numerals
B = spacing of numerals
C = stroke width of numerals
D = minimum border width

Location of numerals
- Vessels without a superstructure, as high as possible on both sides of the vessel.
- Vessels with a superstructure, as high as possible on both sides of the superstructure with the top of the numerals towards the bow.
