How long does it take to complete the survey

The time it takes you to complete the survey depends on both your record keeping and activity. We recommend that you set aside 15 to 25 minutes to complete the survey. The more costs you have incurred (e.g., for travel to fishing sites, accommodation or fuel), the longer it will take you to recall and enter details.

What happens if I cannot finish the survey in one sitting

Your responses are saved automatically. If you cannot finish the survey in one sitting, close the browser tab and, at a later time, click on the survey link to continue entering your answers.

Why was a private consulting company, PRA Inc., given access to my name and email address?

PRA Inc. has been given access to your name and email address for the sole purpose of delivering the survey to you. Your contact information was disclosed to PRA Inc. in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA).

PRA Inc. has certified that it will use the information only to contact you about this survey and will destroy all records of your name and email address when they are no longer needed for this purpose.

Why is DFO concerned with my freshwater fishing activity when purchased through the government of British Columbia?

We work with the Province of B.C. to conserve and manage aquatic living resources and their habitat. We are responsible for the protection of freshwater salmon and the Province of B.C. is responsible for all other freshwater species.

Information collected in this survey will help inform decision-making across both provincial and federal levels of government and increase our collective understanding of recreational fisheries in the province.

Was DFO provided any personal information collected from my provincial freshwater angler profile?

None of the information stored on your freshwater angler profile has been shared with us while administering this survey. The Province of B.C. has shared only your name and email address with PRA Inc., a company hired by the Province, to deliver the survey to you and have been done so in accordance with FOIPPA.
