User guide: Commercial fisheries - Annual licence eligibility trends

The Commercial fisheries - Annual licence eligibility trends dashboard shows the annual number of licence eligibilities in commercial and communal commercial fisheries that were available over a number of years. You can use it to see trends in the annual number of licence eligibilities for selected fisheries, broken down by licence type.

For the best experience, make sure that your default web browser settings are set to the language of your choice.

The Filters box

The “Filters box” has the following search options:

• Fishery group: shows the main species group targeted by the fishery
• Fishery name: describes the fishery including gear and methods used
• Licence type: commercial licences are held by individuals and businesses; communal commercial licences are party based with the First Nation identified as the licence eligibility holder

At least one fishery group, fishery name and licence type must be selected for the dashboard to produce results. Results will always be displayed by individual fishery name and year. Data for all available years will be shown in the chart.

Search for options

To search for options under a fishery group, fishery name or licence type:

• Scroll through the options using the scroll bar; or
• Enter an option in the search box. Note that this does not select the option. If the licence type or fishery that you are looking for appears, you can clear the search box and select this option by following the instructions below.

Select options

To select all options under a fishery group, fishery name or licence type:

• Check "Select All".

To select only one option under a fishery group, fishery name or licence type:

• Uncheck "Select All".
• Check the option that you are interested in.

To select all fisheries licenced under one fishery group:

• Check “Select All” under Fishery name.
• Check only the Fishery group you are interested in.

To select one species when you don’t know the fishery group it belongs to:

• Check “Select All” under the fishery group.
• Check only the Fishery name you are interested in.

Find licence eligibility trends

To find the annual licence eligibility trends for a fishery and licence type(s):

1. In the "Filters box", select the options that you are interested in.
   1. Select the fishery group(s) you are interested in.
   2. Select the fishery name(s) you are interested in.
   3. Select the licence type(s) you are interested in. If you select both communal commercial and commercial licences, each bar on the chart will show the combined total of both these licence types.
2. If you want to focus on one fishery only, but still see it in context with the other fisheries, you can select multiple fishery names in the "Filters box" and then select one fishery only in the legend below the chart. You cannot generate a chart that covers only one year – the trends dashboard is designed to show all available years.
3. Hover over a bar on the chart to view the number of licence eligibilities for a particular fishery and year.
