User guide: Commercial fisheries dashboards - prices by species

The Commercial fisheries prices by species, annual averages dashboard shows the annual average commercial or coast-wide prices based on the filters you select. The resulting prices are broken down by fishery group, fishery name, and species. The annual trends dashboard shows the average commercial price by calendar year. The resulting prices are broken down by species.

All values are shown in Canadian dollars that have been adjusted for inflation. For the best experience, make sure that your default web browser settings are set to the language of your choice.

Use the Filters box

The "Filters box" has the following search options:

• Fishery group: shows the main species group targeted by the fishery
• Fishery name: describes the fishery including gear and methods used
• Species: shows the species
• PFMA: shows the Pacific Fishery Management Area where the harvesting took place
• Year: the calendar year (annual averages dashboard only)

Search for options

To search for options under a fishery group, fishery name, species, year, or PFMA, scroll through the options using the scroll bar.

Select options

All of the “Apply” buttons must be clicked in order for the table and chart to produce the correct results.

To select all options under a fishery group, fishery name or year:

1. Check "Select All"
2. Click on the "Apply" button

To select only one option under a fishery group, fishery name, species, year, or PFMA:

1. Uncheck "Select All"
2. Check the option that you are interested in
3. Click on the "Apply" button

To select all fisheries licenced under one fishery group:

1. Check "Select All" under fishery name and species
2. Check only the fishery group you are interested in
3. Click on the "Apply" button

To select all species under one fishery name:

1. Check "Select All" under fishery group and species
2. Check only the Fishery name you are interested in
3. Click on the "Apply" button

Find the annual average coastwide and PFMA prices for the harvesting sector

To find the annual average coastwide and PFMA prices for a given species:

1. Navigate to the annual averages dashboard.
2. In the "Filters box", select the options that you are interested in.
   1. Select the fishery group(s) you are interested in
   2. Select the fishery name(s) you are interested in
   3. Select the species you are interested in
   4. Select the year(s) you are interested in. If you select only one year, the table will show the coastwide and PFMA price for that year. If you select multiple years, the table will show the annual average coastwide and PFMA prices over the years selected
   5. Select the PFMA(s) you are interested in. If you select only one PFMA, the table will show the annual average coastwide and PFMA price for that PFMA. If you select multiple PFMAs, the table will show the annual average coastwide and PFMA price for the PFMAs selected.

Charts are sorted by default alphabetically by the first column. You can change the chart view by clicking the sort icon in a column to sort the information by greatest to smallest or smallest to greatest.

Find trends for the average PFMA price for the harvesting sector

To find the annual average coastwide and PFMA prices for a given species:

1. Navigate to the annual trends dashboard.
2. In the "Filters box", select the options that you are interested in.
   1. Select the fishery group(s) you are interested in
   2. Select the fishery name(s) you are interested in
   3. Select the species you are interested in
   4. Select the PFMA(s) you are interested in. If you select only one PFMA, the chart will show the average PFMA price for that PFMA. If you select multiple PFMAs, the chart will show the average PFMA price for the PFMAs selected
   5. Select the PFMA(s) you are interested in. If you select only one PFMA, the table will show the annual average coastwide and PFMA price for that PFMA. If you select multiple PFMAs, the table will show the annual average coastwide and PFMA price for the PFMAs selected
3. If you want to focus on one species only, but still see it in context with the other species, you can select multiple species names in the filters box and then select one species only in the legend below the filters. You cannot generate a chart that covers only one year – the trends dashboard is designed to show all available years.
4. Hover over a bar on the chart to view to view the average PFMA price for a particular species and year.
