Directions

From the Inland Island Highway, take the COURTENAY/ CUMBERLAND exit and turn east to Courtenay. At the traffic lights for Cumberland Road, turn left and then the first left at Marsden Road. Turn right on Lake Trail Road, and left on Powerhouse Road.

Hours of Operation:

Facility is open daily, year-round, including holidays, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Tours:

Self-guided tours, informative signs, underwater viewing. Guided group tours are available - call or email hatchery in advance to make arrangements.

Species:

Chinook, Pink, Coho, and Chum Salmon

Best Times

View adult salmon between September 1 and December 1, juveniles from April 1 to June 1.

Other Attractions

Upper Puntledge Hatchery on Forbidden Plateau Road, to view juvenile salmon year-round and adult Chinook from July to September. Call hatchery lower site to confirm hours of operation.
