About us
The Chehalis River Hatchery was originally constructed in 1982 to enhance salmon stocks in the Chehalis and Harrison rivers. Today the hatchery receives thousands of visitors that come to learn more about salmon. The hatchery produces coho, chinook, chum and pink salmon, as well as steelhead and sea-going cutthroat trout. Enhancement of these stocks contributes to significant sport, commercial and First Nations fisheries, both locally and up the B.C. coast. The Chehalis River Hatchery works in partnership with the Chehalis First Nation and the Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C. on various projects. The best time to view adult salmon is mid-October through November; juveniles are present year-round.

Tours
All public tours are self-guided. Follow the numbered display panels around the site. The tour takes a half hour. Please obey all signs. The site is paved with lots of public parking and wheelchair access. Public washrooms are located at the front of the main building to the right of the lobby entrance doors.
Directions
The hatchery is located near Harrison Mills. From Vancouver, drive one hour east on Highway 1 (TransCanada Highway) and take exit 92 in Abbotsford to get to Mission. From Mission, drive east on Highway 7 for about 20 minutes. Turn north onto Morris Valley Road (paved) at the Sasquatch Inn and the Hemlock Recreation Area sign. Follow Morris Valley Road for six kilometres. You will see the hatchery sign on the right.
