2. Who can apply
You are eligible to apply if you are located in British Columbia or Yukon and hold a communal commercial salmon licence eligibility.
Communal commercial licences that have been temporarily distributed to a Nation through the Allocation Transfer Program/Aboriginal Fishery Strategy Agreement or Temporary Allocation/Yearly Transfers Pacific Integrated Commercial Fisheries Initiative (PICFI) Agreement may not be eligible. All applications will be assessed on a case by case basis, and additional conditions may apply in some circumstances. Please contact us for more information.
Eligible activities
Funding will contribute to acquiring alternative non-salmon commercial fisheries access, for example, halibut.
Your proposal may also include the following if related to the newly acquired access:
- acquiring fishing gear
- fishing vessel(s) upgrades or modifications
- training and mentoring
Eligible costs
The following are eligible costs when incurred in implementing the Alternation Program Contribution Agreement:
- Administration:
- administrative expenses, such as phone, fax, internet, utilities, bank fees, office supplies and materials
- GST or HST paid that is not eligible for reimbursement or exemption
- Commercial Fishing Access:
- costs associated with the acquisition of commercial fishing licences or quota in support of Agreement activities
- Communications:
- meeting expenses, for example hall, rent, supplies, or hospitality
- General Operating Expenses:
- repair and maintenance costs of equipment, facilities, vessels and vehicles related to the Agreement
- operating expenses for equipment, vessels and vehicles for non-commercial enterprises
- Insurance:
- insurance expenses related to activities under the Agreement
- Professional Services:
- contracted and professional service costs other than travel or litigation costs
- consultation costs
- legal fees related to the Agreement (excluding litigation costs)
- Property, Plant and Equipment:
- purchase, lease or rental costs of equipment, supplies and materials
- purchase of equipment and equipment upgrades, vessel upgrades, and/or gear in support of the Agreement activities
- Salaries, Wages and Related Costs:
- human resources costs, including in-house salaries and benefits
- Training:
- training fees and expenses related to the agreement, including materials
- Travel:
- travel and related expenses for contracted professional service providers or other non-employees
- travel and related expenses for employees
Costs other than those listed above are ineligible unless approved in writing by us.
