Conditions of licence
Failure to comply with licence conditions and Canada’s aquaculture regulations can result in investigation and enforcement actions under the Fisheries Act.
We are responsible for licensing all aquaculture facilities in B.C.
Sector-specific licence conditions set out the operational and reporting requirements that licence holders must follow to operate legally. They contain provisions to ensure that aquaculture sites are operated in an environmentally sustainable manner that minimizes the risk to wild fish stocks and marine resources.
Specific conditions of licence have been developed for individual licences to ensure proper regulation and management of the fishery. An aquaculture facility may cultivate multiple species under one licence and may be licensed for species not currently being grown.
